DEC was founded in 1993, to bring English language instruction to the heart of Shiga Prefecture, in Japan.
Through the years, we have also offered French, and now we offer Hindi, as a way for local citizens to feel connected to the world.
We lead with empathy and work to understand the needs of those we serve, providing tailored support that addresses their specific challenges.
We partner with local communities, organizations, and volunteers to achieve shared goals, believing that together we are stronger.
Transparency, accountability, and ethical action are at the core of our work. We’re committed to using every resource efficiently and responsibly.
Lasting change is our priority. We focus on solutions that build long-term resilience and self-reliance within communities.
