About Us
Dave Dolan
I have taught Second Language English in Japan for over 20 years, and
in my
experience, not enough time is spent on pronunciation
in the classroom,
and definitely not at home. Therefore, although many people achieve a
high level of English, their pronunciation limits their
ability to make
themselves understood to native speakers. Now you can practice your
speaking on your own, wherever you are.
I have a Masters in TESOL and I have taught (full and part time) in
Japan for the past 20 years. After teaching in a private conversation
school for 4 years, I opened up Daimatsu
English
Centre in Yokaichi (May, 1993). Although I am now living in
Canada, DEC continues to operate in Higashiomi (formerly Yokaichi),
under very capable instructors. I still supply materials and
return to teach whenever possible.

St. Lawrence College --
Cornwall Campus
All of the media files were recorded in the A/V studio of the Cornwall
Campus of St. Lawrence College. Mr. Henry Petrynka assisted with the recordings and we are indebted to Henry and the
college.
St. Lawrence College provides a welcoming atmosphere for students from
any part of the world, and they are serious about assisting in the
education, and English proficiency, of their international
students.
Voice Models
We were fortunate to have two women lending their voices for this
project. Margaret Power, and daughter Beth, provided not only two
native,
Canadian voices
but also examples of two different age groups. Margaret is an elementary
school teacher, and Beth is a high school senior.
Many thanks to these two ladies for taking the time and helping out.
