Features
* Work on your English pronunciation at your pace, in your space
* 41 lessons, all set up in the same way
* Work in order of the Lessons, or go to any sound you wish
* See the Table of Contents to see all sounds, linked to each of the Lessons
* There are 15 key words in the Word List. The first column of words has the key sound in the Initial Position (at the start of the word). Column 2 has the sound in the Medial Position (middle of the word) and column 3 has the sound in the Final Position (end of the word). Where possible, lessons are set up in this way, to allow you a chance to learn and practice the sounds in all positions.
How to Use
For purposes of instruction, we will assume the Pronunciation Guide is on a CD (ie. BookOnCD), or Flash Drive. (If it is on your hard drive, simply find it and double click "BookOn.exe".)
- 1. Insert the media (CD, DVD, or Flash Drive). If AutoPlay is on, you will see "Open Folder to View Files."
- 2. Open that and double click on "BookOn.exe"
- 3. Go to the Table of Contents and find the sound you wish to work on... click to go the lesson.
- 4. If it is Lesson 36 (as above), you will see the sound, words and sentences.
- 5. Start with the sound... click and practice a few times. Click each of the words and practice.
- 6. Repeat after me is a repeating lesson. Try that when you are ready and confident!
- 7. For unknown words, check the Glossary (linked to an on-line dictionary).
Notes
- 1. In the Glossary, n = noun, v = verb, a = adjective
- 2. You can control some of the functions of the video (such as speed, pause/play, video size, etc..) by right clicking within the video box and choosing the option.
- 3. The sentences are audio files only. I want you to concentrate on listening carefully and repeating (clear, loud voice). As you know, it is more difficult to speak to someone on the telephone, than to speak to them in person!
- 4. To pay for (and activate) this Guide, go to the HELP option on the toolbar.
- 5. Depending on your computer, the media files may be slow to start (first time). Once the BookOn engine has everything set up, clicking through the lessons will be quick and easy to navigate.
